Wow! I bet that title got the juices flowing. It’s a life I live, I tell you! Still, that was the course I went on yesterday, run for Parish Councillors and Clerks in Long Ashton, North Somerset. I went, along with my Clerk, in order to understand the issues, obligations and liabilities that come with running a burial ground. Our Parish has been unable to bury its dead in the parish for more than a decade due to the local church cemetaries being deemed full and closed, but recently we have been gifted with a plot of land which makes it possible to build a new burial ground – happily adjacent the old church yard.

At this evening’s annual Parish Council meeting I was voted unanimously into the Chair of the Council. What do you think they know that I clearly don’t?

Very happy to say the new website was extremely well received.

It’s based on the same WordPress engine I’m using for this blog, but without comments and stuff. This means that it can be updated by folk with little or indeed no knowledge of HTML, FTP or all the rest of the Internet technobabble that’s normally required for a half decent site.
And that’s only half the good news for CPC. At yesterday’s County Council Planning Committee meeting, the two planning applications for extensions of working hours at the local Cemex owned quarry were refused by an overwhelming majority, after an exciting (no, really!) back and forth arguement between the proposers and [ahem] our side. Glee.
