Yes indeed, Chris. The two databases are I think linked in some way but, beauracracy being what it is, it seems the ATH isn't searched by the planners when developers move in.

However, searching the ATH site there are very few trees listed around here - and we have lots. I will ensure when I list a tree with South Glos I also enter it into the ATH register.

This is something I've intended for many years, but you know how time gets filled. As that time goes on, however, I see how little of it is left for some of these wonderful folk.

What's it like where you live?

I particularly like the idea of the GPSing of ancient and interesting trees... that is a very valuable exercise.

As for pollarding the willow, some trees (in particularly willow) seem to thrive better off it. The place I work has a 7 acre willow bed on short and long rotation cycles; short rotation for fencing and weaving and a long rotation for the biomass boiler we have. It's nice that you didn't have to remove the willow however... our local council has a nasty habit of removing old trees at their will...

You could be suffering from polyps rather than simple snoring...surely if there is a physical cause of your problem they will pay..the spire wbsite has info on nasal polyps...I only know this because i had polyps and had them removed...they caused sleep apnoea, and deafness for me.

If you look at the number of vehicle recalls at http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls/default.asp?tx it puts the Toyota issue into perspective. Every manufacturer has recalls, thousands of them. Someone is trying to hit Toyota hard with a bad news story, and it's working.

I'm afraid I had the camera fixed, and it's still giving sterling service alongside it's somewhat larger 450D dSLR brother.

They both have their positive and negative sides - the dSLR is the more creative camera, but the G7 is always in my bag with me. The worst camera is the one you haven't got with you when the shot presents itself!

Hope you get your camera sorted out.

I want to get my hands on a 'donor' G7 - mine still powers up but the lens mechanism is jammed. Maybe if we can put two broken ones together somebody will end up with a working one?

I could dismantle the lens mechanism on mine and attempt to clean and refit it, but this looks incredibly fiddly and probably would be no better. Easier to swap out the whole lens module.

If a repair costs £90, how much is a faulty G7 worth to you?
